Apple TV+ Ends Surfing Series 'Make or Break' After Two Seasons

Apple TV+ has decided not to renew its surfing docuseries, Make or Break, after its second season as reported by TVLine. The series focused on elite champions from the World Surf League, including Kelly Slater, Stephanie Gilmore, Gabriel Medina, Tyler Wright, Italo Ferreira, and Tatiana Weston-Webb, as they competed for the coveted World Champion title.

The first season, set against the backdrop of the 2021 competition, delved into the challenges posed by the global pandemic. It explored not only the competitive aspects of surfing but also delved into broader themes such as surfing culture, diversity, mental health, and the physical demands of the sport.

Produced by Box to Box Films, with James Gay-Rees (known for Amy) and Paul Martin (known for Formula 1: Drive to Survive) among the executive producers, Make or Break was a collaborative effort with WSL CEO Erik Logan and WSL Studios chief Ryan Holcomb also on board.

Despite its initial focus on capturing the essence of surfing and its cultural impacts, the series will not be returning for a third season on Apple TV+.
