What’s ‘Gladiator’ About?
Back in 2000, Gladiator stormed onto screens, capturing hearts and box office records worldwide. Led by Russell Crowe as Maximus Decimus Meridius, the film tells the gripping tale of a Roman general betrayed by Commodus, the treacherous son of Emperor Marcus Aurelius.
After enduring the murder of his family, Maximus is enslaved and forced to fight as a gladiator. But he doesn’t just survive; he thrives, rallying fellow gladiators and aiming to right the wrongs done to him by seeking vengeance against Commodus and restoring honor to Rome.
Gladiator bagged an impressive five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Crowe, out of a total of twelve nominations. Deadpool & Wolverine slices its way onto screens on July 26, where audiences will also get a taste of what’s to come with the Gladiator II trailer.
