Hulu Originals is diving deeper into the dating show genre with its latest pickup, “Virgin Island,” a reality series produced by ITV America and Plimsoll Productions. Known for their work on “Love Island USA” and “Queer Eye,” these producers are bringing together a group of stunningly attractive and confident singles who are all new to romantic escapades.
Set on a picturesque tropical island, the show will span 10 episodes, giving participants a chance to find “the one.” As with any good reality series, viewers can expect unexpected twists, new arrivals, and dramatic departures, all leading up to a gripping finale where the fledgling relationships are put to the ultimate test.
The production team for “Virgin Island” includes executive producers David George and Adam Sher from ITV America, and Grant Mansfield, Karen Plumb, and Alan Eyres from Plimsoll Productions. Peter Geist also serves as an executive producer.
This latest acquisition adds to Hulu’s growing roster of reality dating shows. Recently, the streaming service also acquired “I Kissed a Boy” and its follow-up “I Kissed a Girl,” hosted by Dannii Minogue.

These series, which are the UK’s first queer dating shows, have been praised for their candid approach to queer issues while delivering high drama. They were brought in as part of Hulu’s “Hulu Has Pride” LGBTQ+ month celebration. In 2022, Hulu ventured into the dating show territory with “Back in the Groove,” hosted by Taye Diggs.
This series followed three women in their 40s who checked into The Groove Hotel in the Dominican Republic to rediscover their youth, live joyously, and hopefully find love with younger men. “Back in the Groove” marked the first unscripted Hulu Original series under the Walt Disney Television Alternative Banner, although it only lasted for one season.
With “Virgin Island,” Hulu continues to expand its reality dating portfolio, promising more romance, drama, and captivating moments for viewers.
