Amazon Prime Video has decided to cancel “My Lady Jane” after just one season. The show, which aired its eight-episode season on June 27, was a historical fantasy drama based on the novel by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows.
The cast included Emily Bader, Edward Bluemel, Jordan Peters, Anna Chancellor, Dominic Cooper, Kate O’Flynn, Rob Brydon, Abbie Hern, Isabella Brownson, Robyn Betteridge, Henry Ashton, Máiréad Tyers, Michael Workeye, Joe Klocek, Brandon Grace, and Will Keen.
Set in an alternate universe, “My Lady Jane” reimagined the story of Lady Jane Grey, the young Tudor noblewoman who briefly became Queen of England before her tragic execution in 1553. But instead of sticking to the historical narrative, the show offered a fresh twist, portraying Lady Jane as a damsel who saves herself, blending elements of action, fantasy, comedy, and romance.

Despite receiving praise from critics—earning a 91% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes—the show didn’t manage to capture a wide audience.
Fans of “My Lady Jane” have taken to Amazon Prime and the show’s official social media accounts to express their frustration and disappointment over the cancellation. Many are voicing their anger, lamenting the show’s untimely end.
The series was created by Gemma Burgess, who also served as executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Meredith Glynn. Jamie Babbit directed five of the eight episodes and was among the executive producers, along with Sarah Bradshaw and Laurie MacDonald.
Unfortunately, despite its critical acclaim, “My Lady Jane” won’t be returning for a second season. The news of the cancellation was first reported by Deadline.
