Netflix Announces Premiere Date for Squid Game Season 2

Exciting news for Squid Game fans! Netflix has finally announced the premiere date for Season 2 of the hit Korean drama. Mark your calendars for December 26th.

Along with this, the streamer revealed that the show has been renewed for a third and final season, which will debut in 2025. This announcement came via a teaser video, which you can watch below.

Series creator, director, and executive producer Hwang Dong-hyuk also shared a heartfelt letter with fans. In it, he expressed his excitement and gratitude, stating, “I am thrilled to see the seed that was planted in creating a new Squid Game grow and bear fruit through the end of this story.” You can read the full letter below on the second slide of the Instagram post.

Fans will be pleased to know that Lee Jung-jae is set to return, alongside fellow cast members Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo. Joining the cast for Season 2 are Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri, and Won Ji-an.

Season 2 picks up three years after Gi-hun’s victory in the deadly games. Player 456, still determined to uncover the people behind the brutal competition, uses his newfound wealth to fund his search.

His first lead is the man in a sharp suit playing ddakji in the subway. But as Gi-hun’s quest unfolds, he discovers that dismantling the organization is even more dangerous than he imagined. To stop the game, he must re-enter it.

Alongside Hwang, Kim Ji-yeon continues to serve as an executive producer on Squid Game. The series is produced by Firstman Studio for Netflix.
