Deadloch is making a comeback. The Australian crime comedy has been greenlit for a second season on Amazon Prime Video, with Deadline reporting that the series’ four leads and creators Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan will all return.
The show stars Kate Box and Madeleine Sami as investigators Dulcie Collins and Eddie Redcliffe. In the upcoming season, the duo will move from the quirky Tasmanian town of Deadloch to the other side of the country – the Top End, a remote region in Australia’s Northern Territory.
They’re called there to investigate the mysterious death of Redcliffe’s former partner, Bushy, but the case takes an unexpected turn when two prominent locals also turn up dead. Joining them are Dulcie’s wife Cath (Alicia Gardiner, Offspring), and the enthusiastic constable Abby Matsuda (Nina Oyama, Class of ’07).

The creators have teased that this season will be “sweaty, sticky, and filthy,” with “a new bunch of cast members and some massive f**king crocodiles.” Sarah Christie from Prime Video expressed her excitement, saying:
“We are thrilled that Deadloch will be returning for a second season to give our global Prime Video customers another dose of its unique blend of Australian humor and gripping mystery, this time set against the visually stunning Northern Territory landscape.”
So, what’s Deadloch all about? The show kicks off with the discovery of a mutilated body that washes up on the beach in the quiet, beachside town of Deadloch, Tasmania.
Two female detectives are put on the case: Collins (Box), a senior sergeant who stepped away from investigative duties for her wife’s sake, and Redcliffe (Sami), a loose-cannon detective sent down from Darwin to assist.

The meticulous Collins and the chaotic Redcliffe immediately clash, complicating the investigation. As more bodies begin to appear, long-buried rifts in the town start to resurface, threatening to tear Deadloch apart.
The series was a hit with critics, earning a 100% “Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes for its sensitive yet irreverent handling of gender, sexuality, and racial issues.
Creators and writers McCartney and McLennan will also executive produce the second season alongside Guesswork Television’s Kevin Whyte and Tanya Phegan. Andy Walker will produce, while Beck Cole and Gracie Otto will direct the six-episode series.
Production for Season 2 of Deadloch is set to begin later this year, though a release date hasn’t been announced yet.
Fans can look forward to more of the show’s unique blend of humor and mystery, all set against the stunning backdrop of Australia’s Northern Territory. Stay tuned to Bigflix for future updates on the return of Deadloch.
